Deepchild | “The Suffering Ones”
Check out this video for this upcoming release by Deepchild, out on Toronto-based Thoughtless Music this Fall. It’s always nice to hear something new from this man, and if you’re fortunate enough to have him land in your town for a show, don’t sleep (looking at you, Toronto—ed).

Mix of the Moment: Claude VonStroke on Rinse FM!

This past Monday, San Francisco’s own Claude VonStroke stopped by the Rinse FM studios, and threw down a two-hour monster set. To say it’s weird to hear the man shouting out to the City on a British radio show is a gross understatement, but boy does it feel good to know he’s getting to show ‘em what we’ve been screaming about on this end of the world for so damn long. As usual, expect some serious day-party-friendly sauce in this one—sunnies on, kids!

Claude VonStroke is currently on his Makeovers tour—peep the dates here, ‘cause you don’t want to miss a bit of Dirtybird coming at you!

Mix of the Moment: DJ Bone … Attacks!!!

Following a long hiatus, DJ Bone is back with new label ABM, a few upcoming releases, and a brand new mix, just in time for his birthday. Events to Love: As You Like it Presents Peter Van Hoesen
Another month, another brilliant event from the folks with As You Like It. This time around, the featured guest is Time to Express label boss Peter Van Hosen, with an extended set not intended for the faint of heart. Now, we could go ahead and regale you with flowery details about just how unmissable this show really is going to be, but it’s probably just better to deliver some proof. Check out his below set from Berghain back in February. It’s a four-hour monster of top-down awesome you’re gonna want to just download and take with you—‘cause it’s pretty much half a road trip, right there. Meanwhile, expect top-notch performances from SF locals Jason Kendig, Mossmoss, and David Siska. To find out more about this event and to purchase tickets, go here.
Mix of the Moment: Ellen Allien | Tsugi Digital 40 Mix

A little bit of new-to-you for today, with Ellen Allien’s mix from the April issue of French magazine Tsugi. Proving once again that dynamism and adaptability are her strong suits, techno mainstay Ellen provides us with a—gasp—house mix. It’s bang on, but brief and very to the point. Give it a listen below.

It’s rare to find a 12” that drums up a whole mess of buzz—or at least one deserving of it—but this new release from Mathew Jonson is proving to be one hell of an exception. Titled Learning to Fly, and out on Minus (his first for them in seven years), the A-side of this record alone is comprised of nearly twelve minutes of your life you’re going to want to give away again and again. The B-side is an equally beautiful dub version which isn’t what it seems; here the man runs circles around your typical analog track with incredible ease, and somehow manages to come up with something entirely new in the process. This is some essential elemental techno you want for your crate. Digital copies are available from Beatport or directly from Minus and physical copies are coming—check your IRL record stores!
