Shows to Love: As You Like It Presents | Ghostly Meets Spectral
SAN FRANCISCO TONIGHT: There are shows that are not to be missed, and then there are shows that you can be certain are never EVER going to happen again. Tonight, our friends with As You Like It are bringing out one of THOSE kinds of lineups, with a full room of Ghostly International and Spectral Sound artists for your dome. Featuring Ryan Crosson (Spectral/ Visionquest), (the almost NEVER seen) Osborne (Ghostly/ Spectral), and Solvent (Ghostly), all of which adds up to—well, it’s just all a bit too exciting to put into words, really.
And yes, though this is very last minute, discounted presale tickets are STILL available here (until 6pm PST), and more will be available at the door.
Still need convincing? Plug in to the sets below, and prepare for awesome. See you at Public Works!

Ryan Crosson is one of the four gents who make up powerhouse collaboration Visionquest, and as far as fast-rising artists are concerned, this one comes with a bullet.

Osborne is Todd Osborn is Soundmurderer is Superstructure is one half of TNT … and the list goes on, really. For more on him and his varied career, check out this interview he did with the Red Bull Music Academy here. Also, check out his mix for the XLR8R Podcast here.

Solvent has been making beautiful, “genre-defying” electronic music for a decade and a half, and his most recent album, Subject to Shift was released in 2010 on Ghostly International. You can also find his releases on Morr Music as well as his own label, Suction Records.

Tycho | “Hours”

Holy wow, the new single by Tycho is incredible. “Hours”, off his upcoming album Dive (due out November 15 on Ghostly) shows the producer at his very finest, sounding tighter and better-defined than ever before. The folks at XLR8R have made the song available for download, so grab it here—you can also listen to a streaming version below.

Mix of the Moment: Com Truise at Movement 2011

The fine folks with the Red Bull Music Academy had the pleasure of hosting Com Truise on their stage this year at Movement 2011, and the man definitely showed up for it. For those of you who made it (still jealous—ed.), relive the magic. For the the rest of us, expect lo-fi at its most stylin’, so plug in.

This is very well starting to pan out to be the year of Benoit & Sergio. Following a single on DFA (Boy Trouble) and the opening release for Visionquest (Where The Freaks Have No Name EP), the duo now drops its third slab of wax for 2011—out on Spectral Sound, and titled Let Me Count The Ways. As expected, this one sticks to their signature driving groove, and is an especially day-party-friendly listen. Copies of this one on vinyl are limited, but you can grab it now—or a digital copy—at the Ghostly Store.

Recent Ghostly International addition Com Truise has been drumming up a lot of interest following the late 2010 repressing of his first EP, Cyanide Sisters, so it’s no surprise to already be hearing something new from the New Jersey based producer. Above is the video for the title track to his three-song single released today, the appropriately-named Fairlight, which you can acquire from Bleep or directly from the Ghostly Store. (A limited pressing of physical copies are slated to be available as well, but for now, that’s TBD.) As for the video, children of the 80s, prepare to be bombarded with images of A/V equipment locked deep in your subconscious. Oh, and in case that doesn’t whet your whistle for long, expect Truise’s first full-length release, Galactic Melt on July 5.

This one has been my driving home spirit animal for the past few weeks. It’s cold outside, and the windows are down, but the heater is on, and your passengers are slowly nodding off. Cue Gold Panda.
