Check out the new video for WhoMadeWho’s incredible “Inside World”. This one’s not so work safe, but one hell of a good jab at human sexuality in all its weirdness. You can find the “Inside World” single here.
P.S. They’ve also released an EXCELLENT remix by Digitalism. Listen below.
Toro y Moi | ‘Freaking Out’ EP
The new EP from Toro y Moi, titled Freaking Out, is finally out this week on Carpark Records, and sees the vehicle for songwriter Chaz Bundick reaching into much more upbeat, funky territory than ever before. (Think indie rock meets Jamiroquai, here.) The first single, “Saturday Love” (a cover of the Alexander O’Neal & Cherelle tune from 1985) pulls in a great deal of dream pop influence, but retains the original’s infectious, happy bounce, while the title track, “Freaking Out”, is one hell of a daytime in the sunshine jam. Expect this one to give you a spring in your step, for sure. You can check out those two tracks below, and be sure to peep the free download link for the EP’s first track, “All Alone”, which is arguably the most danceable jam on this release. Finally, you can grab it now at Insound, where they’ve currently got a limited supply of Toro y Moi keychains, too.

Mark E | ‘Stone Breaker’

Coming from the school of disco re-edits and long-winded soulful house emerges Mark E with his first album on Spectral. A sure departure from his roots, Stone Breaker is a mature look at analog-based house that, at it’s core, never loses its disco soul, but very tastefully reimagines the standard formula in a way that sounds both challenging and yet immediately accessible. This is one that, on the second listen begins to reveal all of its hidden secrets, so give it time to grow on you.
For a preview, here’s the very soulful album closer, “The Day”.
And in case you miss that old school disco flavor, check out his Stonebreakin’ Mix from March.

In the meantime, if you have the good fortune of being in the EU and Asia, check out his tour dates below, which run through July. We’re hoping for a North American leg to this tour here, but so far, it’s fingers crossed.

Raga Bhairav | 1982 | SYNTHESIZING: TEN RAGAS TO A DISCO BEAT | Charanjit Singh (via bombayconnection)
This was probably the most inspiring re-release to come out in the last year—acid before acid was named, by five years. It’s amazing what we will pass by in our time only to later discover its true beauty. I suppose this is the curse of creating for one’s art. It’s exciting to see this one come to light now, especially given the recent resurgence of the purist acid movement.
You can read more about Charanjit Singh and his story here.
Giorgio Moroder | Chase (theme from Midnight Express) (via JayWesLeyroz)
Have you had your Moroder interlude yet today?
This song pretty much sums up my feelings about my fellow music nerds. When they recommend really solid jams, their taste is dead on. Many thanks to @Mozaic77 for sharing this gem; it’s so good I had to pay it forward.
So, here it is. Hot Toddy | “Won’t Let Go” | Late Night Boogie
