Slidecamp | “Geometer”

This is news that’s been a long time in the making. SF/LA duo Slidecamp (aka Boreta and Comma) are finally releasing their self-titled first album on Alpha Pup Records offshoot Glass Air next Tuesday, September 6. Check out the first cut, titled “Geometer”, below—it’s a chillwave dreamscape workout, and one hell of an opener. If you haven’t heard these guys before, you’re in for a special treat that Bay Area residents in particular have been eagerly awaiting for several years, now. Our Friday has been made, that much is certain.

Events to Love: Fixup - Comma ‘Colortronics’ Release Party

This Thursday in San Francisco is officially going to be poppin’, so you may as well just plan on calling in sick on Friday, especially if you’re a bass head. 222 Hyde is hosting the final edition of Fixup, which will also be a very special release party for Comma’s Colortronics EP. (And if you haven’t already grabbed this one, you really should—you can even get a copy on a purple cassette tape!) Featuring support from DJG (Surefire), Epcot (Frite Nite), Fixup’s own Psych Tyson, and a special guest (we have our theories), this night looks set to own. Purchase tickets here—this space has very limited capacity.

And as an aside, if you were also looking forward to seeing Luke Vibert at Public Works that same night, the news looks not so good. Unfortunately his visa was delayed, and the event has been postponed. If you purchased a ticket, expect to see a refund shortly.

Big Up Podcast 38 | Comma

Seeing an artist who has put years of hard work into his craft receive recognition is truly a satisfying thing to behold. Such is the case with San Francisco’s own Comma, who is featured in the latest podcast for Big Up Magazine. Having made more than his fair share of waves in the past year following the release of his Carry the Fire EP (Semisexual), as well as his work with Frite Nite and Surefire, he gives us yet another reminder to keep watching this space for big sounds. Walking the line between bassy bangers and lo-fi slow jams the whole way through, this one makes a satisfying head nodder—add sunny drive for ultra effect.

Comma’s second EP, Colortronics, is tentatively slated for release on March 15, on Frite Nite.
