Mix of the Moment: tobias. Live at Berghain 9.7.11
Just in time for the weekend comes this bit of hard, dark techno from Tobias Freund’s latest incarnation, tobias. Taken from the release party for his album, Leaning Over Backwards (Ostgut Ton), that took place at Berghain last month, this is a deeply gratifying set that jacks hard, but still retains that body-moving tight balance between tension and release that has become so characteristic of the Berlin-based sound. Throughout his performance, tobias. treats his album as a show piece, creating one of the best recent examples of a truly aurally immersive dancefloor experience.
